Right next to the famous Duomo of Florence is the Florence Baptistery. Two of the four sets of doors were made by Lorenzo Ghiberty. His more famous Renaissance peer Michelangelo termed the east doors as the ‘Gates of Paradise’. The doors had various biblical stories in each section.
Renaissance artists and sculpturers inscribed themselves into their work. This picture of Lorenzo Ghiberty who ‘signed’ his work in a very obscure section of his majestic work.
